The Great Migration
Around 1.5 million wildebeest moving in a continuous circle through the Serengeti. Where they are depends entirely on when you travel.

The animals are following rain and fresh grazing, not a route, which is why the timing shifts every year. They spend most of the year inside Tanzania: it is not an event with a start date, and there is always somewhere in the Serengeti where the herds are.
December to March: southern Serengeti and Ndutu. Calving peaks around late January and February, and predators concentrate here.
April to June: moving north and west through the central Serengeti, with Grumeti River crossings possible in June.
July to October: the northern Serengeti and the Mara River, where the crossings people picture take place. November turns the herds back south.
Treat these as typical windows, not fixed dates. Any operator giving you exact crossing dates months ahead is guessing. To give yourself the best chance, stay at least three nights in the right part of the park for the month you are travelling.
